Fleet Antidotes

I thought 2008 lacked good music, it had its moments but nothing too spectacular. There was of course Radiohead’s - In Rainbows (technically was released in 2007 in digital format, remember? pay what you want! £0.00), Bloc Party’s new album, MGMT and Primal Scream’s new album but to name a few. So I have decided to compile my Top 10 Albums of 2008 in the next coming week, will all be up before I hit the bottle over Christmas.

Fleet Foxes

Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes

What got me thinking about this was two new albums I’m after stumbling upon. The first being Fleet Foxes self titled album. It’s a very up lifting album. They are a five piece band from Seattle with some great harmonies and great use of acoustic guitars. It’s the sort of album that Ross Whyatt would love (sorry Ross). Two thumbs up from the Ferg.

Check out their myspace for a preview and then venture out and purchase a CD. Something I agreed on never doing again.

Foals - Antidotes

Foals - Antidotes

Another album that hails from the hometown of the ever brilliant Radiohead is a new band called Foals. Well they have been about for a year or so but in my eyes they are new. Antidotes is the name of their debut album and its a mixture of experimental rock, fast beats and Kele Okereke sound alike vocals. Not a bad thing mind you, they remind me of the Klaxons but not in that childish stupid Golden Skans style. You decide.

Im tired, its 1.18am. I have nothing to do tomorrow so I plan on putting final touches on this website and finally adding content to the website.

Shameless

I just finished watching the entire collection of Shameless,

The series charts the lives of the dysfunctional Gallagher family, comprising the father, Frank Gallagher and his nine children, widening the scope to other occupants of the estate as the series progresses.

Great show, up to the fourth season anyway. I felt the fifth season took away from the show, moving away from the Gallagher family and putting more focus on the next door neighbours the Maguire’s. It seem to have lost some of its spark when Sheila disappeared and Lip ventured off to university. That saying it’s still a great show and I will continue to watch it. They built a 6,100 m2 exterior and interior set for the fifth season so I presume a sixth season is going to appear somewhere, hopefully in January as thats the norm for a new season to appear.

Got hold of Death Cab for Cutie’s new album, people were raving about it but I don’t get it, sounds like every other band these days

Primal Scream

I wanna get Loaded

“I Wanna Get Loaded”

Got to see Primal Scream last night in the Savoy, Cork - for Free! Great venue, holds a few hundred people. Perfect to see Bobby Gillespie rocking it out, well holding onto the microphone for his life. Munster v Blacks was on before the gig and was fairly drunk watching that so the gig is a bit of blur but everyone has pointed out to me that I went wild inside and why not? Drinks why.

Guns N’ Roses long awaited “Chinese Democracy” has finally surfaced onto the internet, full release not just half assed songs or those bootlegs of their new songs, this is the real deal. It’s downloading as I type this so looking forward to listening to it, heard the title track a few days ago, its not bad. I was expecting worse.

Killers new album should be appearing soon, wasn’t a fan of Hot Fuss but I think Sam’s Town is a great album, a nice pop album. But their new song “Human” and “Spaceman” haven’t made an impression, suppose will have to see how the album is once it hits the shelves.

Absolutley knackered after the gig, Ross cooked us a massive fry-up this morning, it’s the only cure after a good night of drinking. It was great being back down in Cork but looking back on what I was up to in UCC and what Im doing now in LIT - I’m happy that I’m progressing in life again!

Working on Site

I’m currently working on the site so if things appear as if they shouldn’t don’t fret, I’m re-designing the site so Im bound to make things break. Hold On..

edit: Yeah things are falling into place but I’m not quite finished, content has to be added. I have a nice list of useful websites and a list of  for people in uni who can’t access their favourite websites. I will be testing all of these in LIT tomorrow, none of the sites will mention  so the filter shouldn’t be able to pick up what your doing. Thats why the p word is an image in this post.

I’ve got Primal Scream tomorrow night in Cork, myself, Duni and Rory are heading down to go some serious boozing with Ross, looking forward to it.
